FAIRY PAINTING

Maria Prymachenko (Pryymachenko, 1909-1997) was born on January 12 – a Ukrainian folk artist in the genre of "naive art"; laureate of the National Prize of Ukraine named after T. H. Shevchenko; honored artist of the Ukrainian SSR. The author of more than 800 paintings, 650 of which are kept in the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art.

Maria Prymachenko's art is a beautiful, amazing, and completely incomprehensible phenomenon that has been attracting the attention of art fans, researchers, artists, cultural experts, and art critics for almost a century. A woman with a difficult fate, illiterate, was recognized as a star of the first magnitude in the "World Encyclopedia of Naive Art".
