HE LOVED THE NUMBER 13

On December 13, 130 years ago, Mykola Khvylovy (real name Mykola Hryhorovych Fitilyov) was born - a political figure, Ukrainian novelist, poet, publicist, active organizer of the literary process, ideological inspiration of the slogan "Get away from Moscow!".

The happily found pseudonym - Khvylovy - signified not only his fate and choice, but also the spirit of the entire restless, fundamentally disturbed era.

He became a charismatic figure of the Ukrainian 1920s, a symbol of a brilliant artistic generation that managed to realize itself during a sparingly measured time. More details at this link

For many years, the name of this talented writer was erased from the history of Ukrainian literature, his works were not reprinted, and posthumous editions were banned. The library offers a virtual exhibition of literature from our fund, which includes the works of Mykola Khvylovy and other representatives of the Executed Renaissance.
