CALENDAR OF SIGNIFICANT AND MEMORABLE DATES. MARCH 4

On this day, Yevhen Oskarovych Paton was born (March 4, 1870 - August 12, 1953) - an outstanding scientist in the field of electric welding and bridge building, the founder of a scientific school.

In 1933 he founded the Institute of Electric Welding of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (now - Institute of Electric Welding of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, named after Paton) and until 1953 was its director. Yevhen Oskarovych created methods for calculating rational structural schemes of metal spans of bridges, investigated the conditions of their work, and developed methods for restoring destroyed bridges. He completed fundamental research in the field of calculation and strength of welded structures, mechanization of welding processes, scientific foundations of electric fusion welding.

The library recommends for viewing a virtual exhibition "DEDICATION TO WORK", dedicated to the life and scientific work of prominent representatives of the famous noble dynasty of Paton - academicians Yevhen Oskarovych and Borys Yevhenovych.
