Calendar of significant and memorable dates. January 23

On this day, Marie-Henri Beyle - Stendhal (January 23, 1783 - March 23, 1842) - an outstanding French writer, was born. At the center of Stendhal’s creativity is a man, a human character. The writer is rightly considered the founder of the "realistic novel." The cornerstone of his work is experience: "I take some of the people I knew." Stendhal was convinced that there are “neither completely good nor absolutely bad people.” A person is determined by what they understand by the word “happiness”, and how they try to catch this “happiness”.
