Baturyn tragedy
On November 2, 1708, the capture and destruction of the city of Baturin and its inhabitants by the Moscow troops. These events are included in the history of Ukraine under the name “Massacre in Baturyn”. The city itself was looted, including the Orthodox churches, and then, by Menshikov's order, it was burned and the churches were destroyed.
