In the modern high-tech world, the intellectual resource is the main engine of the development of society and the successes of the state are largely due to the level of development of science. Annually, starting from 1997, on the third Saturday of May Ukrainian scientists celebrate their professional holiday.

We offer a thematic review of the literature, consisting of three parts: at the beginning of the review, attention is paid to well-known scientists, the history of the development of science in Ukraine is further elucidated. The review concludes the review devoted to the methodology of scientific research by the authors of which are also the scientists of Chernihiv National University of Technology.
