This day marks the 145 anniversary of Vasil Stefanik – a well-known Ukrainian writer and public figure, a great son of his nation, the poet of sad fate and at the same time the singer of hopes.
A talented Ukrainian writer of XIX - early XX century, he entered Ukrainian literature as a master of short socio-psychological novel. Vasil Stefanik admired spiritual power and beauty in the people that in his opinion was destined to revive the peace. His name as an outstanding artist, a staunch fighter for a better future for the working people stands next to Shevchenko and Franko, Lesia Ukrainka and Mykhailo Kotsiubynsky.
